Travel Tuesday - Dreaming of Munich!

Really Munich, I mean really?  Is this restaurant not AMAZING?!?

I stumbled across the restaurant SPATENHAUS an der Oper while looking for places to eat during our trip to Munich next month.   I am in awe of how beautiful the rooms are!

We must go to dinner here one night!

There are actually two floors to this restaurant, the downstairs being more down to earth with traditional Bavarian food and the upstairs being more formal with more refined d├ęcor and menu items.
Pictures of the second floor are above and below are some pictures of the first floor of SPATENHAUS an der Oper
There are boxwood plants outside the restaurant so it must be meant to be!

I can't wait to get to Munich now! Do you have any recommendations?

Summer Entertaining

What is better than an outdoor dinner party in the summer?  We hosted a beautiful summer birthday dinner and I wanted to share pictures with you and show you how to get the look!

We used french striped runners and napkins for a casual but pulled together look.  Our menus came from paperless post - yes you can also order paper from them!  They do a great job.  For more decor I used my go to glass hurricanes with candles and inexpensive birch wrapped vases filled with hydrangeas.  See below for sources.

I used clippings from our rosemary bush at each table setting for an extra touch.

Outdoor lighting is a must if you are going to entertain outside!  We used globe string lights from Pottery Barn for extra lighting when the sun went down.

I hope you are inspired to do a little summer entertaining this year!

Travel Tuesday - Top 5 Spas Around The World

Here is a list of my Top 5 Luxury Resort Spas Around the World!

1. The Spa at Royal Malewane in South Africa

The Spa at Royal Malewane is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect afternoon activity in between Safari Drives.  The bowls above are for the feet washing ritual.  Spend the day getting treatments or just lounging on a bed in front of the pool.  They will even set up your lunch by the pool if you desire.

2. The Spa at Montage Laguna Beach in Laguna Beach, California

The Spa at the Montage in Laguna has one of the best facilities that I have ever seen.

The spa pool is reserved just for the guests getting spa treatments in an attempt to keep the crowds at their main pool.  The perfect way to spend the day here is to workout in the gym that has open French doors looking out to the pool and ocean, then having a spa treatment and then ending with a drink or snack at the pool.

3. The Spa at Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands

The spa at Little Dix Bay is the most relaxing space ever!

The pool area is fabulous with a to die for view!  The treatment rooms are also spectacular!  We booked a couples treatment and we absolutely loved the treatment room with outdoor shower and private hot tub pictured below.

4. The Spa at Auburge Du Soleil in Rutherford, California

The spa at Auberge is perfection.  It is so relaxing and beautiful!

I think I had the best massage of my life here, no joke!

5. The Spa at The Ritz Carlton Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico

The spa at Dorado Beach is breathtaking.  The design and attention to detail are over the top...in a good way!

You enter through the dried herb room pictured above.

While we were there I kept mentioning how great the space would be for a party!  Then I came across the gorgeous setup above!
Those are my Top 5 Spas.  What are your favorites?

Hamptons Outdoor Living

Summer homes in the Hamptons have the BEST looking pools!  I am obsessed with the above checkerboard grass and white flowered hedges!

And nothing says summer in the Hamptons like blue and white!  Here are some of my favorite resources for outdoor living inspired by this spread in AD.

I also love the outdoor sitting area under the covered porch.  There is a great mix of materials and there is a relaxed and formal vibe all in one.  It is inspiring me to get some new outdoor pillows.  Get the look with the curated sources that I have picked below.

Travel Tuesday

We spent two weeks in Australia and New Zealand for our Honeymon.

One of the highlights of our honeymoon was going to Queenstown, New Zealand and staying at the Matakauri Lodge.  Queenstown is such a special place, the natural beauty of the mountains, lakes and terrain cannot be described in words, and pictures can't truly capture how breathtakingly beautiful Queenstown and the Matakauri Lodge really are...but I will try and show you why it was such a special place for us.

The Matakauri Lodge is set overlooking a lake with a backdrop of mountains, once you enter the property you have no choice but to relax and take it all in.

The main lodge and the individual cabins are all suspended over the lake with floor to ceiling glass walls making you feel like the view is slapping you in the face and trying to wake you up...but it is not a dream, it is the most fabulous reality!

The landscape and the design are spectacular...I spy boxwood in the above pictures!

Breakfast and Dinner is included in the rate as well as a cocktail hour with horderves, where you can meet and great the other guests.  We met wonderful people and made many friends, I even came back with a pen pal from Saudi!  We would have cocktails by the fire above or if weather permitted outside by the fire in the picture below.

As you can see from the picture above it was not relaxing at all!

After drinks we had two rooms to chose from to dine in, we always chose one of the tables above because it truly was the best view in the house.  The menu was always a three or four course menu with an a la carte option as well.  The food here is no joke, some of the best meals I have ever had...you will not go hungry!  There are also fresh cookies and brownies in your room that they refresh throughout the day and they are like crack!  All the guests were talking about how they are impossible to stay away from!

The rooms at Matakauri Lodge are fresh and modern but very cozy at the same time.  The guest rooms all have same breathtaking view of the lake and mountains in each suite.

Perfect spot to read relax and read a book.

Look at this view from the bath tub!

The Matakauri Lodge is so beautiful and accommodating that you wont want to even leave your room or venture off the property, but trust me, you do not want to miss all that Queenstown has to offer!

Queesnstown is dubbed the adventure capital of the world, there is bungee jumping, parasailing, hiking and if you are not the adventure type, there is still plenty to do like wine tasting and shopping!

One of the highlights of our trip and a must do is to take a helicopter ride and landing on Milford sound, then making a stop on the rocky beach of the Tasman Sea and then landing on a Glacier!

The above picture is pretty bad but I wanted you to see the amazing view!

Stay tuned for a guide to Queesntown, New Zealand and my favorite things to do and places to go!
