Hayden Panettiere's House

Well, not anymore but it used to be the house Hayden Panettiere rented before my friend Ashley moved in!

It is the cutest little house in West Hollywood.  The house is tucked away on a side street off of Melrose in a perfect little neighborhood!

My friend had a birthday party here last Saturday and I had to share some pictures with you.  Ashley and her Mom did the most amazing job on the decor and food!  The party was held outside in the backyard..look at this amazing table set-up!

Ashley and her Mom made the floral arrangements themselves with flowers from the farmers market and the grocery store!  Here is a close up.  I mean, really?!?!

And another view..

I love the lanterns in the tree!

The table above had two amazing cheese boards and then there was a table on the other side of the yard with little sandwiches and a yummy quiche.

How great is that table with the umbrella and elephant stand!  She purchased the umbrella from Calypso Home.  So fab!  Here is a close up of the food:)

Sweet ending to a perfect party.

I will have to do a post on the inside of the house sometime.  Ashley has the most fabulous taste in the interior decor too!

Brown Bergere Chairs

via House Beautiful

I am loving this room and the brown chairs!  I would never do the pink walls myself, but who would have thought they would work so well in a living room?  I need to recover a pair of bergere chairs and I am thinking that brown is the way to go...

Intercontinental Montelucia Resort and Spa

We stayed at the Intercontinental Montelucia in Arizona for a wedding last weekend.  The weather was great and the views of Camelback Mountain were amazing!

The hotel itself left a little something to be desired.  It is considered a 5 star hotel but I did not feel the overall hotel lived up to 5 star standards.  The concierge definitely did not provide superior service.  The overall decor of the room was not my cup of tea but the rooms were nice with a huge porch with lots of outdoor seating.

I did not like the food either of the main restaurants and the overall feel of the hotel was a little Vegas to me...even the spa was a little odd, I was not sure if I was walking into a nightclub or the treatment area.  People do love this hotel and Tripadvisor has great reviews.  I think it was just not my style.

Interesting Spa Decor

Now for some positives...

Even though the spa decor was a little off, I had some great treatments and the staff was wonderful!!!  Everyone was so nice and helpful and the gift store in the spa had the best clothes and accessories.  I even bought some Tory Burch sunglasses.  The workout room was above the spa and it was a good size with lots of ellipticals, bikes and treadmills to choose from.

My favorite part of the hotel was Crave. A little cafe that I got coffee at every morning.  The staff was very friendly and they made great lattes.  There were other snacks you could purchase and they had a nice wine selection, which is nice to have the option to purchase a bottle to take to your room.  Especially when the rooms had such nice outdoor areas to enjoy a glass of wine.  Here are some pictures of Crave.

Mastro's City Hall

Mastro's is a group of Steakhouses and Seafood Restaurants with locations in California, Nevada, Illinois and Arizona.  I have been to the Beverly Hills location a few times and it is fantastic, so when we were in Scottsdale last weekend we had to try Mastro's City Hall.  Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

We all decided to start with a Martini.

Now this is a martini!! We opted for blue cheese stuffed olives.  OMG!  My mouth is watering just thinking about it now.  The glass is huge and they leave the leftover shaker at the table so one martini is really like having two.

When dining at Mastro's another must have besides their martini is the shrimp cocktail.  It comes floating over dry ice with four of the biggest shrimp I have ever seen.

I am a steak girl so I always have the petite fillet.  It was delicious and comes out on a plate that is insanely hot.  So hot that when I put a serving of creamed spinach(so good) on my plate it started sizzling!

My martini started kicking in after the shrimp cocktail and I forgot to take more pictures of the food so
below is a picture of the inside that I got from the Scottsdale Convention & Visitor Bureau Website.
The decor inside was eclectic and well done.  It felt more fun and modern than a traditional steakhouse.
It was a great dining experience and I have no complaints which is rare for me.  It is definitely a pricey place so expect to spend some money.

I almost forgot that we ended the night with their famous warm butter cake.  It came with ice cream and a huge bowl of whipped cream.  Pure heaven!

Off to Arizona

I am going to Scottsdale, Arizona tomorrow for a wedding.  It will be my first time in Scottsdale so I am excited to check it out.

I was looking for home stores to visit while in Arizona and I ran across the design firm David Michael Miller.

Below is a Spanish colonial house he designed  in Phoenix.  Check out the pictures below from David Michael Miller website and go take a look at his other projects!

I hope to report back from Scottsdale on hotels, restaurants and stores!  Have a great weekend!

Spanish Dream House

I get emails with real estate listings occasionally and when I opened the email on the above house my jaw dropped.  It is my California dream house!  When you walk through the front door the main living room is to the right.
Love all the natural light and the wood beams on the ceiling.  If you pass the living room you walk into the kitchen and den area.  Love the white cabinetry and white marble cabinets.  The wood island warms up the room.
If you walk out the open door in the kitchen you enter the backyard.  There is a beautiful pool and a pool house with a guest house upstairs.

Shut the front door, right?!?!?  The house is located in Hancock Park.  A cute little neighborhood in Los Angeles.  You can go to Teles Properties to see the full listing.

Eveleigh West Hollywood

The Eveleigh is a newer restaurant on the Sunset Strip.  I have not been for dinner but I met some friends for drinks at the bar the other night.  The place is so cool.  It is such a change from some of the trendy LA Restaurants.  It has a rustic barn feel and I felt like I was walking into a  restaurant in the South.  You walk right into the above bar area and on the right is an open kitchen

To the left is this adorable fireplace with big leather chairs.  I parked myself in the chair to the right of the fireplace the entire night!

My view from the chair on the right was a cool little nook with a table and chairs.  Here is a picture I took.

I want to eat dinner at this table and then settle back into that leather chair by the fireplace for an after dinner drink.

Behind the bar is restaurant area.

I plan to go eat there soon and will report back on how the back restaurant area of The Eveleigh is and the food.  Chow for now.

Beverly Hills Bridal Shower

When you hear the words Beverly Hills Bridal Shower, it sounds like it would be frou frou or stuffy.  I went to a shower in Beverly Hills on Sunday and it was the complete opposite.  An amazing LA setting and an amazing group of laid back girls made it the most fun and fabulous shower that I have been to.

First, let's take a look at the house where the shower took place.

The house was up Benedict Canyon in Beverly Hills.  Such a cool entrance.  The shower took place in the backyard.  As soon as you walk outside you run into this fantastic pool and view of Los Angeles.

Here is another view of the pool....see the boxwood???

There was a gorgeous statue in the garden.

I love Wisteria! Take a look at this shot of the wisteria growing up the porch.

It was the perfect setting!  Below are some shots of shower details.

Yum...mimosas and margaritas...

The table settings were simple, fun and elegant all in one!

It was a perfect Saturday...Cheers to the bride and groom!

Dry Bar LA

Drybar is an all blowout salon in Los Angeles.  Their website says "No cuts. No color. Just Blowouts."
I think it is brilliant!  I almost forgot the best part - only $35 for a blowout!!!!!  They have a menu of different styles of blowouts to chose from...Southern Comfort, Mai Tai, Cosmopolitan, Straight Up and Manhattan

The original location is in Brentwood but there are now several locations around Los Angeles.  I went to the West Hollywood location on Sunset for a blowout on Saturday.  I chose the Straight Up style which is their signature blowout, a typical blow dry with a little body.
Light fixture made out of blow dryers.

Above is a picture of the inside.  I love the white marble counters and white cabinetry.  The place was busy and full of energy.  Everyone was enjoying themselves and they even offer a complimentary glass of wine while you are having your service done.  So Fun!

They are now franchising and I have a feeling they will start popping up all over the country so be on the lookout.
