My Fiance came back from Switzerland with the most delicious delicacy, Sprungli Luxemburgeli macaroons! Just what I needed on the first day of our no sugar challenge at work! I became obsessed with Macaroons after visiting Laduree in London a few years ago (see my post here). I must admit that these little Swiss gems give Laduree a run for their money!
They are actually mini-macaroons which makes them dangerously pop-able! The consistency is lighter than a Parisian macaroon and the center is creamier. The outer shells are a perfect little dome and the are very delicate.
The packaging is pretty with a little note on top that says enjoy immediately...which I did! I tasted every flavor and then had to go back and taste a few more so that I could be sure to tell you which one was my favorite. 20 MINI macaroons later (they are mini, OK, no judging) and my favorite one is their flavor of the month, Coffee/Coconut Deluxe.
